Primitiva Pottery and Tile

Primitiva Pottery and Tile started over 20 years ago creating functional pottery that grew into more whimsical ware with carved leaves on the outside and tropical colors on the inside. This was the beginning of the handmade tile line that offers large tiles depicting fragrant tropical flora such as passion flowers, trumpet flowers, water lilies, and plumeria as well as dramatic temperate climate flowers including clematis, trillium, and calla lilies. Primitiva Tiles lend themselves to creating a garden refuge in everyday spaces of a shower, kitchen, or bathroom surround.

Primitiva Tiles are approximately 6 x 9 inches. Some of the tiles are designed to be installed as a relief interest against field tile. These tiles exist both as one and two-tile repeat patterns to form a continuous relief pattern. Border tiles are 1.5 x 9 inches. All tiles are low to medium fire and suitable for indoor use.

About the artist: Maria P. P. Root lives in Seattle. The calming yet energizing essences of flowers and nature inspire her work. Many of her tile designs transplant themselves from her garden to her studio.
