Red Step Tile

Paula Gill is an artist/tilemaker with a background in printmaking, watercolor painting and graphic design. Drawing on techniques and skills learned from these disciplines, Paula makes one of a kind tiles by hand using a slab roller and carving tools. Molds are not used. The 3/8" thick tiles have an aesthetic similar to that of woodblock prints: bold simple graphics with playful images inspired by gardens, birds and modern life.

As the terracotta tiles are low fired, they are recommended for decorative use. All tiles come fitted with a stout wire loop on the back, making them suitable for displaying indoors or hanging outside. If displaying outdoors, keep in a dry protected area during freezing conditions. Coordinating field tile and trim are available for use in kitchen and bath installations.
